Design Your Own Astro Bear Contest – results
Thanks for so many entries! We had a lot of fun looking through them.
Winners are at the very bottom of the page, along with the reasons for our decisions. Please be kind if your design or the one you really like isn’t the winning one, or if you do not like the winners’ designs. It was very hard to choose!
James Irons (@Jimb_The_D) made an awesome comic as an entry. It didn’t score 3rd, 2nd or 1st place, but as an extra prize for great effort, James will get Astro Bears Switch Stand AND his Astro Bear, Koalski, will appear as NPC in later installments in the Astro Bears series. Check out his comic here.
3rd place:
For just the overall pleasant design and likable face; Astro Bears is all about friendship, so Jetfish pal fits nicely! The stats go well with the idea of Jetfish as a Jetpack, too. Scott (@DrScitt) takes 3rd place and wins Astro Bears Switch stand.
2nd place:
Jeff is, of course, a human, not an Astro Bear, but we fell in love with the idea that the school mascot found himself in a strange situation – surrounded by real bears. While the stats will need some heavy adjustments, Diego Fajardo (@DBoyFajardo) scores 2nd place and wins Astro Bears Switch Stand, Igor Miniature …and something more (below).
1st place:

We appreciate what Bottom Tier wanted to achieve – an Astro Bear with the worst stats possible (though they will still need some rework) and a usable Special Ability. The fact that he’s an intern goes nicely with that concept, and so does his species – Koala. We adore the idea of a character who aspires to achieve something technically impossible (as koalas cannot be Astro Bears, because they aren’t bears), and tries really hard to do so nonetheless. Bottom Tier takes 1st place and wins Astro Bears Switch Stand, Igor Miniature and…
We decided that both Lyptus and Jeff will appear in a DLC next year. It’ll be called “Astro Bears not-bears DLC”.
